How to Choose the Right Wi-Fi Router for Your Home in Lebanon

Slow Wi-Fi, dead zones in the bedroom, or a connection that drops every time the electricity switches between EDL and the generator are some of the most common complaints we hear at Electrotrad. In most cases, the fix is simply the right router for the way your home actually connects to the internet. Here is a simple guide to choosing one.

1. Start with how your internet reaches your home

Lebanese homes usually connect in one of three ways, and each needs a different kind of router:

  • Ogero or ISP landline (ADSL/VDSL): you need a modem router that supports VDSL, such as the TP-Link Archer VX1800v or the Archer VR600.
  • Fiber or a cable from a local internet provider: a regular Wi-Fi router plugs into the provider's box. Popular choices are the Archer C6 or, for faster plans, the Archer AX53 Wi-Fi 6.
  • No landline, using a mobile SIM (Alfa or Touch): a 4G router with a SIM slot shares mobile data with the whole house, like the Archer MR600 4G+ or Archer MR200. These are also a great backup when the landline is down.

2. Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7?

Wi-Fi 5 (AC) is fine for small apartments with a few phones and a TV. Wi-Fi 6 (AX) handles many devices at once much better, which matters for families where everyone streams and games at the same time. Wi-Fi 7 (BE), like the Archer BE230, is for very fast fiber plans and anyone who wants their setup to last for years.

3. Big home or thick walls? Think mesh

Lebanese buildings have thick concrete walls that block Wi-Fi. If one router cannot cover the whole apartment, a mesh system such as the TP-Link Deco M4 spreads one strong network across every room instead of making you switch between weak extenders.

4. Don't forget your laptop or PC

An older desktop without good Wi-Fi can be upgraded cheaply with a USB adapter like the Archer T3U.

5. Protect it from power cuts

Frequent switching between the state power and the generator is hard on electronics. Connecting your router to a small UPS keeps the internet running during the switchover and protects the device from voltage spikes.
